Black Knife Ghost Fish Food

Why did my fish (BGK) die?
I have a black ghost knife and i forgot to feed it for like a week and i fed it yesterday and today it died. since i didn't feed it for a week i gave it a bit more food than a daily dose but not more than Ive ever given it. ive given it this amount if not more before many times. i also have forgotten to feed it before but never for as long as a week. it is possible that because it didnt eat for so long that when it ate it got shocked or something?
i think the answer to this one is whether this was a one time lapse in the feeding schedule or if it is something that happened too often. when i go on vacation i don't let anyone feed my fish for a few reasons. most fish including a black ghost can go around 7-8 days without feeding if they are in good health and well feed before. when other people take care of fish they tend to overfeed them and your water gets all messed up. if you tell them to test the water you get someone playing scientist with your aquarium. so if this was a one time thing and your water quality is "good"(black ghosts are a black water fish they like the water acidic and dirty with no salt) is there any visible signs of parasite fungus or bacteria mine was highly susceptible to velvet and i usually kept a mild level of copper in the water to as a preventative measure. i enjoyed keeping my ghost for a little over a year before trading him in when it got to 17 inches the are almost blind and use a mild electric field to find food and navigate i fed mine every third day and never had a problem other than the velvet outbreak. i highly doubt that too large of a meal was the coup de gras
